Sponsored 'Sleep-Out' For Julian House

Chris Keppie, The Diocese of Exeter’s Church and Society Officer, is doing a sponsored 'sleep-out' on the night of 31st January for Julian House. He shares his story below:

I'm doing a sponsored 'sleep-out' on the night of 31st Jan for Julian House, a homelessness charity that provides all sorts of brilliant and effective services across the SW, including in Devon the 'Nightstop' project for young people, street homeless outreach, a winter shelter, prisoner rehabilitation, specialist women's service, 'Housing First' for people with complex needs, and a bike workshop where people develop employment skills and confidence (https://www.julianhouse.org.uk/projects-and-services.htm for details of these and more across the region).

Obviously Storm Brendan focuses the mind and empathy for people on the street, but of course homelessness of any type, and all that goes with it, is horrendous all year round. Yet from my previous experience volunteering and working in that sector, I know how positive change - even for the most entrenched and damaged people, really is possible in this world now. More on my motivations in the link below if you're interested, but I'll stop before this becomes too long!

If you're able to spare anything, I'd massively appreciate it. Julian House's overall target is a long way off still, and they need all the funding they can get. Of course it's also good to know friends and colleagues are behind you - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Chris-Keppie
